Local Living Economies: Green, Fair, and Fun
8 p.m. Wednesday, November 4; Mabel Brown Room, Student Center
Judy Wicks’ work for ethical and sustainable business practices have shaped conversations about food, social justice, and energy. She is co-founder of Business Alliance for Living Local Economies (BALLE) and founder of Philadelphia’s White Dog Café. While serving produce from local, organic family farms, humanely raised meat and poultry, and seafood from sustainable fisheries, the White Dog Café uses wind power and pays its employees a living wage. Wicks has received many awards for her contributions to the living local economy movement, including a George Bailey Award for community investment from The Reinvestment Fund in 2007 and the 2008 International Association of Culinary Professionals Humanitarian Award.
How is KSC tied to events on the local, national, and global scale? Check out this wall-sized poster
that will be on display in the Student Center Atrium throughout the Symposium to find out.
