FAQ’s
How do I join Student Government?
To join Student Government please download a student gov petition from our website. Petitions for vacant positions during the present school year may be turned in at any time and you will be asked to attend a meeting of the Student Assembly for your election.
Student Government Elections for all classes and positions are held in April of every school year for the following school year with the exception of the First-Year Students who have their elections on in September.
How do I start a club?
We are always accepting new club applications. The process if very simple. You must meet with the constitution committee chair and discuss what exactly you would like to do with your new club. What is your mission statement, your purpose, what members of the KSC community are you trying to attract? These are just a few of the questions to ask yourself before starting. The next step is to gather signatures from ten KSC students who are pledging to join your club when you become official. Finally, after a few meetings with the constitution committee you will bring your new polished constitution to the next student assembly meeting and have it approved. Thats it! If you have any further questions we always welcome them. We suggest you speak with either the chair or the constitution committee or the chair of student assembly for help in starting your new club.
How do I receive funding?
Student Assembly grants funding to a wide range of student groups and individuals on campus in the forms of funding requests and budget requests. Funding requests are available to any current student wishing to put on an event open to the entire campus. For a complete list of criteria that must be met, please make an appointment to see the student assembly treasurer who will be happy to answer all of your questions. To submit a funding request, please download the Funding Request Form, fill it out and submit it to the assembly treasurer.
For active student organizations, we offer the availability of a budget to your new club. The group must be active for 14 school weeks and must be in good standing with student government (turn in all activity forms when requested, etc.). The starting budget of any new organization after the probation period is $800. The student assembly has the final vote to install a new budget for a club and reserves the right to grant whatever they feel is appropriate on a club to club basis. If you have any questions about receiving a budget, we suggest you contact our student assembly treasurer.
