Welcome to ON/BU

Filed under: ON/BU News — Jen Spade @ 7:09 pm

Greetings from Owls’ Nest/Butler Complex!

It is with great pleasure that I write to welcome you to the ON/BU Community! I hope this letter finds you enjoying your summer and taking a well-deserved break before you come to campus this Fall. The fall semester is just around the corner and I’m looking forward to move-in day. The buildings are too quiet without residents!

We, in the Office of Residence Life, are working hard and planning your arrival. We’ve begun by selecting a strong staff of Resident Assistants for the area. The staff is as follows:

Owls Nests Resident Assistants

1 (212) Coley LeBlanc x9-4260

2 (201) Kelli Redes x9-8069

3 (201) Brandon Russell x9-4013

4 (212) Stephanie Carroll x9-8442

5 (201) Jacob Piecuch x9-8341

One Butler Court Resident Assistants

217 Lauren Duffy x9-3286

310 Michelle Bourassa x9-5073

320 Alee Parker x9-8515

My name is Jennifer Spade and I will be your Residence Director. This is my second year back at Keene State College. I graduated with my undergraduate degree in Sociology from KSC in 2005 and I am now working on my MBA at Plymouth State University. I am really looking forward to the year ahead and I am eager to meet all of you and to make ON/BU a fun and lively place to live.

A total of 434 residents live in the nine Owls Nests. Seven are co-ed and two house only female residents. A typical Nest double room includes closets or wardrobes, movable furniture, one entrance light (desk lamps are recommended), and 5 double outlets. First floor rooms are not carpeted; second and third floor rooms are carpeted.

One of our newest residence halls, One Butler Court hosts 216 co-ed students in six, eight and ten-person suites. Each suite contains carpeted single and double rooms, all with built-in closets and moveable furnishings. Suites also contain a kitchen area (microwave but no stove or refrigerator). A large lobby and fully equipped kitchen provides a nice setting for students to relax in, as does the game room.

The RAs and I will be planning programs and events to help build a strong community among ON/BU residents. It will be up to you, however, to make the year a successful one and take advantage of the opportunities presented to you. I encourage you to share ideas and suggestions for programs and activities with your RA or myself when you return to campus. We hope to make ON/BU the best community on campus and with your help, I know this is possible!

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at (603) 358-8998 or email me at jspade@keene.edu Have a great rest of the summer! See you soon.

Sincerely,
Jennifer Spade

Vacuums and Laundry

Filed under: ON/BU News — Kate Johnson @ 2:25 pm

Hey there Nesters, We are currently missing the two vacuums that we lend out to people who want to tidy up their rooms. If you have one please return it to the Laundry House so everyone has access to it. Thank you!

Speaking of laundry…there has been a load or two of laundry left on a folding table for at least a week. If you know of someone who has been complaining that they have a lot less clothing than they remembered, it might be theirs! Abandoned clothing will be donated after approximately a week…giving these clothes a very short window to get claimed by someone…thanks for helping to keep the LH a clean and tidy place to launder your clothes!

We are compiling a list of concerns to submit to the company that deals with the alarms. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!
