HW 3: Politics & Blogging

Blogging is a very effective strategy in the political world. I agree with the idea that news papers do not offer all of the information to the public. Newspapers are edited whereas blogging offers people to express all of their ideas without the fear of being censored. Blogging is proven to be a very popular way to express ideas, millions of people are signing on a month to see what’s new.  What I am wondering is if blogging can actually give factual information. How can you trust everything you read on a blog when in actuality it is just a person expressing their own ideas? Don’t get me wrong I think it is great that people can log onto sites and express what they believe about presidential candidates or political topics in general. What I found really interesting was the story about Sen. Trent Lott. Beliefs were changed just because more people were reading about it on various blogs. After the scandal was out the senator stepped down from his position.

HW 2: Blogging is a connector

After reading David Kline’s “From Cave Paintings to Wonkette,” my knowledge of blogging has grown a lot. I never thought about the effect blogging has on the world as we know it. I agree with the statement that blogging is linking our world together, being away from friends and family has showed me how important that really is. The topic that really caught my eye was the one saying that blogging is genuine conversation.  It is slowly replacing the latest fad of instant messaging and e-mail. I believe that blogging is more powerful to our generation than newspapers; I believe this because reading a newspaper does not give you the opportunity to express your feelings about the topic to other people reading. Reading this has showed me how powerful an online blog is to ones community and world around them. Blogs offer people the opportunity to comment and interact with people who have similar interests as their own. It is important for people to express their beliefs because if they did not no one would ever have their voices heard.
