The committee of the New Hampshire board of normal school trustees consisting of H. C. Morrison, state superintendent of public instruction, Hon. Charles R. Corning of Concord and Dr. Geo. D. Towne of Manchester, which was charged with the duty of finding a new principal for the normal school in Keene, has selected Wallace E. Mason, superintendent of schools in North Andover, Mass., to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Principal Rhodes.
Mr. Mason is a native of New Hampshire, and was born in North Conway.  He graduated from Bowdoin college in the class of 1882, is married and has an interesting family of three boys, one of whom is now a student in Dartmouth college.  He is described as a man of dignified bearing and scholarly presence, at the same time possessing qualities which have made him popular with young people seeking an education.
Mr. Mason has done post graduate work at Harvard and Clark universities and has had a round of educational experience in district school, city grammar school and high school work, and as superintendent of schools.  He also has been extensively employed by the Massachusetts state board of education as an institute lecturer, his services as a speaker and lecturer being in active demand.
Prof. Paul H. Hanus, head of the department of education at Harvard university, says of him: “He is a fine man, possessing excellent personal qualities and scholarship, and excellent insight into and skill in dealing with educational and administrative questions.  He is in my opinion one of the ablest of the younger superintendents.”
Mr. Mason is also endorsed by many other prominent educators, including George I. Aldrich, superintendent of schools ion Brookline, Mass.; Prof. C. F. Hodge of Clark university; George H. Martin, secretary of the Massachusetts state board of education, and John G.
