RATIONALE:
Mathematics has developed over the years in part by mathematicians considering questions of practical importance from other disciplines. Understanding many of those applications requires a mathematical background that most college students do not possess. This course presents an array of topics from political science, history, economics and business management. The advantage here is that the tools do not require an extensive mathematical background but in this course, students do develop the analytical skills that mathematicians commonly use to solve problems.

IIMATH 315: MATHEMATICS AND SOCIAL INSTITUTIONS
IIMATH 310: THE EVOLUTION OF MATHEMATICS
RATIONALE:
The current MATH 310 addresses the development of mathematical ideas and applications from mathematical, historical, cultural, and scientific perspectives. In addition, the course considers how mathematics has contributed to many other fields of study, and how these other disciplines have in turn enriched the subject of mathematics. It therefore makes sense to revise the course as an interdisciplinary offering in the Integrative Studies Program. As the course builds on both ISP foundations courses, ITW-101 and IQL-101, it would appear most suitable to offer it at the upper-level.

TAD 311 MODERN DANCE/COMPOSITION III
RATIONALE:
IATAD 113 is a relatively new course in our program and was not available for pre-requisite permission when the 4-credit proposal for TAD 311 was accepted (the current catalog version). IATAD 113 is a different course from TAD 112, however it will provide the same necessary foundation for students to proceed to TAD 311.
TAD 212 MODERN DANCE/COMPOSITION II
RATIONALE:
IATAD 113 is a relatively new course in our program and was not available for pre-requisite permission when the 4-credit proposal for TAD 212 was accepted (the current catalog version). IATAD 113 is a different course from TAD 112, however it will provide the same necessary foundation for students to proceed to TAD 212.
SOC 234 INTRODUCTION TO SOCIAL WORK
RATIONALE:
This change is made simply to align the pre-requisites of this course with the actual courses we plan to offer. Previously the pre-reqs were listed as SOC 101 and SOC 225. Since we intend to delete SOC 101 and replace it with SOC 201, and since SOC 225 will no longer be offered and will be replaced with IS-SOC 225, we want the listed pre-requisites to match the reality of our course offerings.
HGS 498 Independent Study
RATIONALE:
The course prefix is being changed to fit the new Holocaust and Genocide Studies program. In addition, it is essential that that students majoring in Holocaust and Genocide Studies are given the opportunity to grapple individually with the complexities associated with this field.
HGS 497 Internship
RATIONALE:
An Internship provides an opportunity for a highly motivated and talented student to cooperatively engage with a Holocaust or genocide-related institution to the mutual benefit of both the student and the institution. The resulting product, which should remain open and loosely defined, may be the development of a specialized survivor database, the creation of a new curriculum, or the organization of a document collection.
HGS 495 Seminar
RATIONALE:
The course prefix is being changed to fit the new Holocaust and Genocide Studies program. In addition, it is essential that students majoring in Holocaust and Genocide Studies are required to grapple individually with the complexities associated with this field. The seminar will provide the opportunity for group examination and discussion of such complexities. It will challenge both students’ knowledge and understanding of the Holocaust and the broader field of genocide, requiring them to develop their ideas through written and oral presentation.
