RATIONALE:
Portfolio process allows increased selectivity in evaluating incoming students on the basis of produced materials, similar to those currently established by Art.
Replacing FILM 352 Film Genres and Directors with FILM 353 Cinema and Diversity in core courses in major requirements will train students to consider social and political implications of film texts and discourses within a society in producing their own works.
Changing the title of FILM 352 Film Genres and Directors to “Topics in Film Studies” recognizes more diverse and far-reaching topics dealt with by the course such as national cinemas and non-fiction/experimental cinema.
