Upon receiving a communication from the state that all conditions for establishing the normal school in Keene had been met, the city councils authorized Mayor Martin V. B. Clark to purchase the ex-Governor Hale property from Mrs. Mary E. Woodbury.

Doubtless Hale Place

The committee decided that the ex-Governor Hale property on Main Street is the most desirable site for the new normal school, but formal action will not be taken until a contract is signed with the school district for the use of schools for training purposes.
