Geology Program Proposal

RATIONALE:
This description of the geology major and minor reflects the number change of GEOL 152 to GEOL 252

GEOL 305 PALEONTOLOGY, GEOL 306 SEDIMENTATION AND STRATIGRAPHY, AND GEOL 403 STRUCTURAL GEOLOGY

PROPOSED COURSE DESCRIPTIONS:
GEOL 305 PALEONTOLOGY
The description, classification, and uses of invertebrate fossils, including their spatial and stratigraphic distribution, evolution, and paleoecology. Three-hour lecture, three-hour lab. Prerequisite: GEOL 252 or permission of instructor. Spring, even years.

GEOL 252 Evolution of the Earth

RATIONALE:
The number change better reflects the content of the course and the level of difficulty of the material. In addition, the General Science program noted if we
change the course number to 200 or higher, that this course could count towards the General Science major, which geology views as appropriate.
