Miss Fiske and her School

In September, 1907, William Pearson purchased the house at 251 Main Street from the estate of Julia B. Thayer, and the Keene Evening Sentinel published a letter from “J. W. B.” reminding the citizens of Keene that the house had once been the “Female Seminary,” run by Miss Catharine Fiske.

More Money Wanted

When the renovation of the Hale property is completed, there will be $5,000 remaining of the funds appropriated for the purpose, and superintendent of public instruction Henry C. Morrison approached the city with a proposal to purchase the adjoining Pearson property (the site of Miss Fiske’s seminary) to add to the normal school site.
