ANTH 315: GENDER AND CULTURE

RATIONALE:
While concerned with issues having to do with both women and men and the construction of gender roles and ideology, overwhelmingly it has been women who take Women, Gender and Culture. While a course on gender is very important for women to take, men could also learn from its curriculum and benefit substantially. Males need to develop an understanding of the construction of gender ideologies and hierarchies just as much as women if gender equality is ever to be achieved. Therefore, this title change reflects an effort to reach a broader range of students.

SOC 363 Corrections

This course is being cut from sociology and will eventually be CJS 201, Corrections.

SOC 275: Deviance and Social Control

This course has been offered twice in the past as a special topics course and proved to be very popular among students. It would also contribute to the Criminal Justice Studies Minor. It falls under Dr. Ghatak’s research specializations and he would like to teach it as a regular offering.
