Centennial Relay and Celebration Photos

Please forgive the delay. See, the original plan was to do some kind of spectacular 100-photo gallery for you (see the Centennial theme there?), but then we had so many great photos from so many talented (and generous!) photographers that the best we could do was narrow it down to our 200 favorites. We’ve got the whole day covered, from proclamation time in Concord to the relay to Main Street to Appian Way to cake to fireworks to just a little more cake, all in vaguely chronological order.

These, therefore, are just the tip of the iceberg. Click on a photo below to see it bigger, or visit the whole glorious gallery.

As always, we love your comments. Were you here? What was your favorite part of the day? What was your favorite part of the gallery (not that we’re fishing for compliments or anything…) And speaking of favorite parts of the day, you’re not too late to read all about what happened — and see some pictures you won’t find anywhere else.

Your Centennial Relay (and festivities) HQ

As you may have read in Newsline, we’ve got big doin’s coming up next week. Please join us in person for whatever you can; if you can’t join us in person, please join us in spirit; leave your comments and well-wishes in the comments here. And come back, often; on Wednesday, we’ll have live updates all day long on our Centennial Relay and Celebration page.

All evening events are on campus, free, and open to the public.

Here’s the approximate schedule for Wed., April 15 (schedule subject to change without notice; that’s what makes it exciting!):

10:15 a.m. Gov. Lynch presents Keene State with a special Centennial proclamation.
10:30 a.m. Runners, representing students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members, relay the proclamation back to Keene.
7:30 p.m. The proclamation reaches Central Square in Keene.
7:45 p.m. The proclamation enters campus at the Appian Gateway on Main Street. Please help us hand it along Appian Way to the stage outside the Student Center.
8 p.m. There’s music, cheering, dancing, hoopla, special remarks, and lots of birthday cake.
8:40 p.m. Fireworks keep the festivities going, viewed from the Oya Hill plaza outside the Zorn Dining Commons.

2006-07

Big moments call for big scissors — and big smiles.

No fool like an April Fool

We admit it, we thought about trying to play some huge trick where we tried to fool you into thinking that pictures that aren’t of Keene really are. And that might have been hilarious, but really, where’s the challenge?

Instead, this time, we’re posting an array of pics. Can you guess which ones are from KNS/KTC/KSC, and which are from other colleges?

Leave your guesses in the comments.

1950-51

Every campus?

1981-82

Not entirely sure what’s going on in this picture, but no good can come of this.

1972-73

What’s better?

  • This image of an economics professor, or
  • That his name is Spider-Man’s name?

Discuss.

1949-50

Bombs away!

1925-26

kronicle_1926_p86.jpg

A school with only about 400 students can assemble a 12-member mandolin club? Really?

1939

We found this gem in the 1939 yearbook.

“We don’t care how much noise you make.”
