On to our second century…

Thanks so much for joining us as we spent 2009 (and, let’s face it, a good chunk of 2008) looking back at our first hundred years of academic community as Keene Normal School, Keene Teachers College, and Keene State College.

We’ll leave the KSC100 blog up so you can continue to poke around through old pictures, but we won’t be updating here any more.

Want to keep keeping up with Keene State? Visit us at the College website.

What’s your best orientation memory?

What’s better?

  • This image of an economics professor, or
  • That his name is Spider-Man’s name?

Discuss.

No, I’m fine. Whaddya mean, is it too loud in here?

Charles Hildebrandt

We were sad to hear this week that Dr. Charles Hildebrandt, Sociology professor emeritus and founder of what is now the Cohen Center for Holocaust Studies, died Tuesday morning. He taught at Keene from the late 1960s until his retirement in 1998.

There will be a memorial at the college Nov. 3 at 4 p.m., plus there’s an online memorial here, at the Cohen Center’s website. Please visit it and add your own memories of this remarkable man.

The Sentinel also did a story, and there’s one in the Equinox as well.

We do not have confirmation that Henry Winkler visited Keene State, but this image of students doing his signature move a full year before Happy Days hit the air must mean something. Right?

Ayyyyyyyyyy.

Pictures? Perfect!

We’re putting together an exhibit of images from the history of Keene State College, Keene Teachers College, and Keene Normal School. Photos and videos will be displayed in the Thorne-Sagendorph Gallery next June.

Naturally, we need your help.

  • If you have any fantastic photos of your own, please scan and send them to us.
  • If you have great photos and no scanner, please e-mail to let us know, and we’ll figure something out.
  • If you have video or film to share, again, please e-mail to let us know.
  • Think about important moments, big and small, from your time (or your parents’, or grandparents’) at Keene, even if you don’t have any photos or film to share, and post them to the comments. What should we not neglect?

We can’t promise we’ll use everything we get, but we’ll be very grateful to get what we can.
