This photo appeared in the 1966 Kronicle and shows Alpha brother Alan Paige, pledge class of 1965, and his girlfriend whose name escapes me. Not sure just what was going on, but it could have been during one of Alpha's seranades to celeberate their pinning, as Jayne says. I think the photo was taken at Fiske Hall.

Jayne oughtta know something about this tradition...she and her husband Steve went thru it too...must have been '67 or '68, right Jayne? I know it happened while we were in the old Alpha House on Main Street, and that house was demolished in the summer of 1968.

This looks like the end of the Alpha Brother's serenade. Whenever a girl became an Alpha Sweetheart (received a fraternity pin), the brothers would seranade the girl, and at the end the brother and sweetheart would kiss. Of course due to curfews, the two would need to be inventive. These seranades were often directed by Bob Baines, past Mayor of Manchester, NH.
