Good Evening East Halls!

I wanted to send out a reminder about the halls closing for Thanksgiving Break.

The halls will close Wednesday, November, 25th promptly at noon. You will need to be out of your room at this time and no exceptions will be made as your ID will no longer work to the building. The RAs will be going through each room to do a health and safety inspection and make sure that all lights are off and shades are closed. Please be sure to remove all trash, rooms cleaned and bathrooms cleaned (if you live in P1 or P3).

Please sign the sign out sheet that was left on your door as that will alert the staff that you have left and we will then be able to check your room.

The halls will re-open on Sunday, November 29th at noon.

Please let me know if you have any questions and have a great break!

A small but key piece of electrical equipment associated with the new cogeneration turbine at the Central Heating Plant has to be replaced prior to the turbine equipment start up later in October.

There will be a 2 hour campus wide electrical shutdown on Sunday, Oct. 25 between 6:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. so that this work can be accomplished.

During this power outage, access to all IT Group services for on-campus users will be unavailable until the electricity is restored.  If you are accessing IT Group services from off-campus , these services will be available.  Once power is restored to the campus, all IT Group Services will be available.

The East Halls Hall Council is sponsoring a Halloween Rave Tonight

From 8:00-11:00pm

Where: Pondside 1 Asheulot Room

What: Rave Music, a Haunted Woods in the back yard, donuts on a string, glow sticks and ring pops!

Feel free to come in costume and get your picture taken by a photographer.

We hope to see you all there!

I hope that your day is going well and that you are looking forward to the Pumpkin Festival. With the expected high number of guests this weekend, the desks will be open starting tonight at 5:00pm and will have a Desk Attendant at them until Monday morning at 2:00am. If you know that you are having a guest over, please try to fill out the guest pass early so that you can avoid a potentially long line at the desk. As a reminder, your guests will need to present their guest pass and photo ID each time they come into the building.

Have a great Pumpkinfest!

Common questions and misconceptions about parking at Keene State

Do we need a permit after 4PM?

Yes.  All vehicles must be registered and display a valid permit from midnight on Sundays till 4 pm on Fridays. This applies to every parking lot on campus.

When do I need to get a visitor pass when I have a guest?

From Sunday night at midnight to 4 PM on Friday your guest will need to come to the Parking Office at Campus Safety for a pass.  The guest and the host must be present with valid IDs in order to obtain a guest parking permit.  All guest parking is for the Winchester St. lot only.

My guest is coming late do we still need a permit?

Yes, Campus Safety is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We are always here to help you with your parking needs.

Where does my guest park?

All overnight guests will be issued a permit for the Winchester lot (the big lot near Walmart across the street from McDonald’s)

Can my guest park in the parking lot by Holloway?

No. All guests must park in the Winchester lot.

I’m only here for one class why can’t I park in the visitors’ lot?

Keene State has many visitors everyday that need parking to conduct business at various campus offices.  Students, staff and faculty with valid permits can park in their designated parking lots. Folks without permits can purchase short term passes, available for $3/day or $10/week, at the Parking Office or Campus Safety.

How often can a vehicle be ticketed?

A vehicle can be ticketed every 4 hours until it is either moved by the owner or towed due to excessive tickets.  If you park on campus, make sure you are in the correct lot and have a valid permit.

Why did my car get towed?

  • It has three or more citations in the previous 12 month period, paid or unpaid.
  • It was parked in a roadway, cross walk or walkway impeding traffic.
  • It was parked in a handicapped space or fire lane.
  • It was parked on grass, dirt, snow, ice (i.e. not parked on pavement) or at the end of a row in an unmarked space (space must have lines on both sides).

Why did my car get towed if I paid my previous citations?

A vehicle will be towed every time it is found in violation (after the second violation) with in a 12 month period, regardless if the previous citations are paid or unpaid.

Can I ever park on campus in a different parking area?

All vehicles that have permits are required to park in their designated lots at all times, including weekends.  There are a number of campus events that occur each weekend for which parking must be available.
