Pisgah State Park
What’s going on at Pisgah State Park?
The New Hampshire Division of Forests & Lands conducted their first timber harvest in Pisgah State Park in the winter of 2007-2008, on an 82-acre parcel in the southeast corner of the park. They have also begun management planning, and have convened an official Steering Committee, who will guide the planning process and provide a vision for Pisgah’s future. For more information, check out the New Hampshire Division of Forests and Lands website and the UNH Cooperative Extension video about the commercial timber harvest at Pisgah State Park.

Pisgah State Park Invasive Plant Survey
As a member of the Pisgah State Park Technical Team, AVEO is collaborating with Antioch University New England, Keene State College, Franklin Pierce University, Moosewood Ecological Services, University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension, Harvard Forest, Friends of Pisgah State Park, and the New Hampshire Division of Forests and Lands to inform landscape-level management planning for the park. AVEO volunteers are now surveying roads and trails throughout Pisgah for the presence (and, hopefully, absence!) of select invasive plant species, in order to help track and control the introduction and spread of these harmful non-native plants.
For more information on the Pisgah State Park Invasive Plant Survey, contact AVEO at (603) 358-2069 or moon@aveo.org.
