Vernal Pool Ecology & Conservation

This spring course explores the spring migration of salamanders and frogs, with special focus on their ephemeral breeding habitat: the vernal pool. Students learn to identify and formally document vernal pools, and have the opportunity to monitor migratory amphibians with AVEO during the first warm, rainy nights of spring. Coursework takes place in both classroom and field settings. This course is especially well-suited for teachers, citizen scientists, and natural resource professionals.
