Mammal Population Inventory
Learn winter tracking with ecologist Jeff Littleton! This winter field course combines natural history of local mammals with hands-on instruction in scientific methods for mammal inventory and monitoring. Diagnostic tracks and sign of key mammal species are explored in field trips, lectures, and online research. Participants also practice topographic map and compass orienteering skills. Students should be prepared for extended periods of time in cold weather, and on moderately difficult terrain. This course is directly linked to volunteer opportunities for monitoring local mammal populations with AVEO.

“The [Mammal Population Inventory] class was probably the best class I’ve taken, mainly because of the hands-on part and going outside.”
“It was a great class, very informative, the instructors were very knowledgable, and the material was presented very well. I learned a tremendous amount.”
