Although we only officially called one Big Night this spring, we still counted 1,694 amphibians (and that’s not counting all of the crossing sites)!  Live totals by species include: 258 Spotted Salamanders; 28 Jefferson Salamander2; 51 Red-spotted Newts; 7 Red-backed Salamanders; 2 Four-toed Salamanders; 429 Wood Frogs; and 706 Spring Peepers.  Thanks to all the [...]

Songbird Banding Demonstration

With a total of 34 birds, including the thrush that Dakota Luebbert is ready to release above, we had a great morning banding last weekend!  Species included Northern Cardinal, Black-capped Chickadee, Downy Woodpecker, Swainson’s and Hermit Thrushes, Eastern Tufted Titmouse, Myrtle Warbler, Song, Swamp and White-throated Sparrows.  Thanks to everyone who helped to make this [...]
