Open House

On Sunday, November 1st the Admissions Office hosted the annual campus wide Open House. Over 1200 visitors  got to tour our beautiful campus, meet with faculty members, learn more about our wonderful programs and talk with students support offices. It was a great day and a chance for us, the admissions office, to meet many prospective students. Thanks for visiting us! If you did not have a chance to attend Open House there are still plenty of opportunities to visit our campus. Just visit our website to see the tour dates and times. We look forward to meeting you!

Applying

As we slowly emerge from being on the road and the applications start coming in I wanted to remind you of a few things to keep in mind when sending in your application to the Admissions Office;

1. Keene State College is a member of the Common Application; please use this application only

2. We do not have Early Action or Early Decision. We are strictly Rolling Decision

3. We will not start reviewing applications , for Fall 2010,until December 1st

4. We need 1st Quarter Senior year Grades

5. We will only accept SAT scores directly from College Board

Hopefully these few items will ease the stress and anxiety of applying to college and answer a few of your questions. As always we are available to answer any questions you do have.

August update

It’s hard to believe that in a couple of weeks the incoming class of 2013 will be arriving on campus. The campus community will help first years students move into their residence halls on Wednesday, August 26. This annual tradition is a great way to kick off a new, and exciting, year!

This summer the admissions office has been a buzz with visitors from all over the North East. Our tours are full and the new fall schedule will be posted shortly. Be sure to check our website for the latest news and events.

Be sure to also check out the Keene State College fan page on Facebook. Become a fan today to see great photos and videos of campus. I just recently checked out the new field hockey video and LOVED it!

Also, don’t forget it’s not too late to get a jump start on your application essay.  To see all the essay questions visit the common application website.

See you on campus!

Owl update

It’s been very busy in the Owls Admissions office as of late. We are continuing to read applications and welcome visitors to campus via tours. Please continue to check your WebAdvisor account for updates on the status of your application. Also, be sure to sign up for a campus tour or class visit (if you would like to see our professors in action). This can all be done via our website; www.keene.edu/admissions. The campus will be busy the next two weeks, February break, welcoming visitors to campus for tours and overviews. We are very excited to meet all of you!

For students who have been accepted, remember to sign up for an Admitted Student Day program. Don’t forget you have until May 1st to deposit to Keene State. Also, in the last staff meeting I learned that no Financial Aid packages have gone out YET. So don’t worry if you have applied for Financial Aid and have not heard anything. Packages will be coming.

We hope to see you on campus soon!

Senioritis and Course Selection

Senioritis!! Raise your hand if you have this.

I know this is a very exciting time in your life. As the college acceptance letters arrive in the mail, you become excited and anxious to be done with high school and start a new chapter in your life. Some of you think that because you have already been accepted into the school of your choice it is ok to “slack” off a little and maybe reduce your courseload 2nd semester. At KSC we highly discourage this behavior. When we reviewed your application we looked at all the courses you would be taking senior year; including those 2nd semester. Please do not call or e-mail to say you are dropping a class. It does matter what you take senior year. We expect all accepted students to finish out their senior year successfully. Did you know that in the summer, after you have graduated, we do an audit on your file. This audit allows us to look at your final high school transcript and see how you finished out the year. We look to make sure you finished it successfully. I know this is an exciting time in all your lives, but please, stay in your classes. Graduation will be here soon enough and before you know it you will be here on campus.
