It’s hard to believe that April 1st has come and gone. Whew! The application deadline has passes and we are all caught up on reading applications. Congratulations to all the students who have been accepted into the Class of 2014!!!
Our next approaching deadline is the infamous MAY 1st. If you have been accepted to Keene for fall 2014 and you plan on being here you need to submit your enrollment services and housing fee by May 1st. If you have already paid and are looking for date of when classes start please be sure to check out the Orientation website here.
See you on campus soon!
If you frequent this site often you must be thinking to yourself “how come it hasn’t been updated in a while” Good question! It’s been a long few months and believe it or not it is still Reading Season (much like NHL hockey; it’s a long season). The admissions office has been inundated with applications and we have been busy entering, processing, and reading. If you are still thinking about applying to Keene State College for the fall you might want to think about getting your application in ASAP. Even though our deadline is April 1st you don’t want to wait; it could be too late.
If you are reading this I hope you have had a chance to look at our website, especially the Admissions pages. There you will find information on the up coming Admitted Student Day programs. These programs are a wonderful opportunity for admitted students, fall 2010, to visit campus, tour first year resident halls, talk to other admitted and current students, and learn more about Keene State College. Our first program is February 26 and it is already full… so sign up TODAY!
Last but not least, while exploring our website I hope you have had a chance to read about the student service trips that took place over winter break. During our break several students had a chance to “go forth and serve”. Please read more about their amazing experience. Our Director of Admissions, Peg Richmond, had a chance to travel with the group to El Salvador. We were all excited to see pictures and hear about her journey with this wonderful group of students. Next time you are on campus be sure to ask her about this life changing experience and remember, you too can experience this and much more as a student at Keene State College.
See you on campus soon!
It’s reading season.. YAHOO! What’s reading season you ask? It’s the time of year when we lock ourselves away in a conference room and start reading your applications. You may be asking yourself when will I hear from Keene State? Why does it say “pending” on my WebAdvisor account and I’ve sent everything in? BE PATIENT! We just started reading applications and, as of today, no letters have gone out.
Each day we receive over 500 pieces of mail. Each one of those pieces has to be entered into our computer and matched up with an application (if the student has applied). In addition to the pieces of mail we receive we are also getting anywhere from 50 to 100 applications a day! WHEW! That’s a lot of information coming into our office. It typically takes 4-6 weeks to get a response back to you regarding your application. So, even though you have sent everything into us it still takes us time to put your application together. Keep checking your WebAdvisor account and remember… BE PATIENT!
Now back to reading applications…..
As the warm days of summer switch to the cool days of autumn so does the role of an Admissions Counselor. The season we are about to enter is called “travel season”. Travel season is a time when we step away from the campus and travel to college fairs, both national and regional, and high schools to talk with you, the prospective student, about what KSC has to offer. We enjoy meeting you, talking with your parents, guidance counselors and telling you why KSC a wonderful place to live and learn. So be sure to check with your guidance office and our website to see if we might be coming to your high school or a college fair near you.
See you soon!
Yesterday the admissions office took part in the yearly tradition of helping the first-year students move into their residence halls. I can’t begin to tell you how much we all love this Keene State College tradition. If you are not familiar with “move in day” it is a day devoted entirely to assisting first-year students into their residence halls. We, faculty, staff and students, all volunteer to direct traffic, unload cars and, in some cases, take belongings to the students room. I know many families are extremely grateful, and often surprised, by this warm and friendly welcome to the KSC community. Yesterday also kicked off the first day of first-year orientation. Yahoo; let the journey begin… WELCOME CLASS OF 2013!
